Perfect setting: The Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave., Warren, was the setting recently for an afternoon tea hosted by the GFWC/Warren Junior Women’s League Home Life Committee in conjunction with a meeting and a talk on “Strong Bones — Strong Body” by Shirley Lisk, a health educator from St. Joe’s at the Eastwood Mall, who presented facts about osteoporosis and how it is treated. Keith Koss, at left, and Lance Koss serve tea to, from left, Vicki Koss, event chairwoman; the guest speaker; and Allison Fee, co-chairwoman. Among the hostesses for the tea (but not pictured) were committee members Darlene Fealko, Melanie Gemmell, Vanessa Koper and Pam Vines. To raise funds for the National Osteoporosis Foundation, committee members crafted and sold pearl bracelets.

No need to walk alone: TOPS Chapter 1497 of Austintown has started a program for walkers. The group meets at 10:45 a.m. each Thursday at Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield Niles Road, Austintown, for 30 minutes of walking exercise. Those who want the exercise but do not want to walk alone are welcome. Prepared to welcome new walkers are, from left, front row, Wanda Hughes, Connie Patchell, Mary Davis, Cathy Mitchel, and Bobbi Kalmer, and in back, Barbra Blinkenderfer, Donna Woodworth, Rae Jones, Judy Sutton and Ellen Prosser.
