Deborah Hromyak, a certified nurse practitioner, conducts an eye examination on one of her patients, Susan Walters of Austintown. Walters, who has had cancer and heart-valve damage among other medical problems, says she doesn’t think of Hromyak as “not being a doctor. For general medical information, I think she knows as much or more than any doctor I’ve been to.”

Western Reserve Restaurant Management Group, the owner/operator of 29 Wendy’s restaurants in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties, presented a check for $122,119 to Northeast Ohio Adoption Services on April 7, bringing their total contribution to $849.345 over the past 10 years. A spaghetti dinner April 25 was a benefit for Jordan Dubose, a cancer patient who is undergoing chemotherapy. Dubose, a junior at Ursuline High School, is an honor student, a member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club and the basketball team. Admistrators, faculty, parents and the Ursuline High School students above served 600 pasta dinners at the event and also conducted a benefit Chinese auction. Contributions for Dubose and his family can be sent to St. Joseph the Provider School or to Huntington Bank.
