Youth leadership conference: Members of Mahoning County Farm Bureau attended the Higher Ground Youth Leadership Conference, sponsored by Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and county farm bureaus recently at Ohio Dominican University. The conference provided participants with a hands-on experience in the Farm Bureau organization, current agricultural issues, leadership and personal development skills. Through developing policies and using critical thinking, the teens developed a greater appreciation of the democratic process and current issues facing Ohio agriculture. Media seminars taught the teen leaders simple ways to reach the public and to educate them about agriculture and livestock. Students representing the MCFB at the event were front, from left, Hanna Bond of Jackson Milton and David and Jessica Corll of Western Reserve; and at back, Sara Mendenhall of Poland High; counselor Allyn Walkama, of South Range; counselor Hannah Zimmerman, of Mississippi State University; and Logan Moff of Western Reserve.
