If you wish upon a star: The YWCA’s Wish Upon a Star gift-giving project, in partnership with community groups and individuals, collected new toys, books and games that were distributed to more than 80 homeless and low-income children in the YWCA housing program. Holding an armful of gifts she received for her five children is, at left, Lillian Peoples, who has a disability that prevents her from working. Residents in the Transitional Housing Program at the YWCA, her family is one of the 41 families helped through the Wish Upon a Star project. Carrying some of the gifts for Peoples is Vicki Winphrie, YWCA living skills educator.
