He’s standing in front of the closed St. Mary’s Byzantine Church on Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, which has housed various congregations. An individual now owns the building, which is in disrepair.

Kathleen Villella, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008, usually sits as she teaches at St. Joseph/Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Austintown. A team named for her, KV’s Krew, will walk in the 2010 Mahoning Valley MS Walk beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Putting on a show: Trumbull Senior Production Company, a performing-arts group for people age 50 and over, is busy rehearsing its first Follies, which is set for Sept. 11 and 12, as well as performances at Forum Health’s Volunteer Luncheon at Leo’s Ristorante in Howland on Friday and the Women’s Expo at the Eastwood Mall on May 22 and 23. The group, composed of local singers, actors, dancers and even a ventriloquist, has been invited to perform in August for the Brier Hill Italian Festival in Youngstown.
