Boardman police and U.S. marshals respond to a Wednesday afternoon shooting on Mill Creek Boulevard. The victim suffered multiple gunshots, but the man was still talking when he was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Police were doing a house-to-house canvass as their investigation got under way.

Nikole Baringer, chief executive director of Animal Charity, holds Oliver, a friendly, 4-year-old cat who’s ready for adoption. Animal Charity moved last month from the South Side Youngstown building it occupied for about 30 years to a new location on Market Street in Boardman.

The Vindicator: A dress-down day took place recently at St. Patrick School in Hubbard as a fundraiser for the March of Dimes-March for Babies 2010. Sporting the casual wear they chose to show they care are fifth-grade students, from left, Chris Anderson, Lea Munnel, Katie Fugundas and Marie Bond. The school raised more than $100 for the cause during the day.
