Putting her best foot forward, Suzanne Bort Gray used many people’s artistry on a canvas of feet to make a montage with a peace theme. Gray designed the project using photos of many people’s feet to form a mosaic. The work is part of the Global Art Project for Peace and will be sent to Australia. The Davis Family YMCA, Boardman, will get a piece from Australia as part of the exchange.

A static-filled recording was released Tuesday May 1, 2007 of the 1970 Kent State University shooting that killed four students raising questions not only about whether someone called on National Guardsmen to fire, but also who might have given the order. The tape was released by Alan Canfora, 58, one of nine students wounded in the 1970 shootings. He played two versions of the tape _ the original and an amplified version _ in which he says a Guard officer issues the command, "Right here! Get Set! Point! Fire!"

The Vindicator: A Substance Abuse Prevention program was presented recently for pupils in the seventh- and eighth-grade classes at St. Patrick School in Hubbard. The difference between street and medically prescribed drugs, the reasons people abuse drugs and the consequences of making bad choices with drugs were explained by, right, Sgt. Lou Carsone of the Hubbard City Police Department. The program also included a video documentary about the life of a person with a life-changing drug problem and a question-and-answer session.
