JOB SEARCH: Joel and Penny Johnson of Warren attended Job Expo 2009 at the Covelli Center with their 4-month-old daughter, Lily. Both 31-year olds lost their jobs when Leedsworld, a maker of promotional supplies, closed its Warren plant in April. Thousands of jobless people packed the downtown arena Wednesday.

A QUICK CLOSING: The Youngstown-owned Henry Stambaugh Golf Course was closed for only one day — Saturday — as the city tries to save money. Al Campbell, 81, a retired steel worker from Youngstown, waits to play nine holes at the course. He plays there almost every day.

LONG PROCESS: Ken Carano, Mahoning Valley regional director for Gov. Ted Strickland, was an Austintown trustee when talk of widening the twin Iinterstate 80 bridges over Meander Reservoir began. The project began in April 2006 and opens next week.
