A NEW NOTION: Canfield Local Schools Superintendent Dante Zambrini, left, assists high school athletic director Greg Cooper with a removable first step to the school gymnasium’s new bleachers. The school district completed a renovation project, which cost about $300,000, and replaced the gym floor as well as the bleachers.

HELPING HANDS: Volunteers sift through dental supplies donated from area churches and businesses. The supplies will be transported to San Jose Villanueva, El Salvador, as part of a mission trip that includes members of Ursuline High School’s class of 1958.

LIFE IN PRISON: Eugene Cumberbatch appeared in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court with his attorney, Joseph Fritz, to be sentenced for his role in the April 13 deaths of Lloyd McCoy Jr., 11, and Marvin Chaney, 26. Cumberbatch was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 38 years.

RENOVATIONS: Scaffolding is set up outside the National City building in downtown Youngstown. National City Bank was bought out by PNC Bank last year, and the building’s signage is scheduled to be replaced in the coming months.
