FIRE SAFETY: Members of the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department spent the afternoon recently with students at St. Patrick School for Fire Safety Month, which is October. Below, fourth-grader Daniel Robinson tries on the gear that firefighters wear going into a fire. Above, Daniel and schoolmate Vito DiTomasso listen intently as volunteer fireman Jim Petro gives fire safety tips. Students learned to “Stop, Drop and Roll” if their clothing were to catch fire and were taught the importance of having working smoke detectors in their homes. After the indoor lessons, students went outside to see a firetruck and the equipment firefighters use, including the Jaws of Life.
