SWEET TREAT: Rosalind Willis, coordinator of the Wednesday free lunch at St. Andrewes AME Church, holds a tray of pieces of cake. The church recently revived its tradition of offering a free meal. Those attending are served restaurant style. This week, about 153 people attended.

HONORARY MEMBER: Alan Hinton, 11, of Youngstown, stands with his mentor Capt. Brian Hodor, who is a pilot of the C-130 aircraft in the Air Force Reserve. Alan was sworn-in Wednesday as an honorary Air Force Reserve second lieutenant in the “Pilot for a Day” program at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

COOK IN THE KITCHEN: Ethel White, a member of St. Andrewes African Methodist Episcopal Church, 531 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown, transfers steaming green beans to a serving dish from a large kettle. She’s among church members who volunteer at the free lunch for all on Wednesdays.
