5.16.2009 William Gillett, a Belgian "war baby" embraces his half-sister Shirley Torres for the first time while his wife Christine wipes her face. Gillett, a native of Belgian was born during WWII to a Youngstown soldier, Gilbert Stephens. Stephens had wanted to bring Gillett and his mother back to the U.S. but Gillet's maternal grandmother would not allow it. Gillet discovered the identity of his father 7 years ago but was never able to meet him as he passed away in 1990.

5.15.2009 LUCKY LADY Lauren Zetts, 10, of Campbell has her shirt autographed by middleweight boxing champion Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik at a signing for his biography. Pavlik and the book's co-authors, David Lee Morgan and Greg Gulas, were on hand at the Boardman Barnes & Noble Friday for the signing.

The Lemon Grove, the café opening mid-June in downtown Youngstown, will be open to press. Jacob Harver, the proprietor of the The Lemon Grove, a cafe under construction in downtown Youngstown, displays construction materials for the interior floor and bar that were salvaged from a 160 year old barn from Brookfield, OH.

5.14.2009 CLEARING A HURDLE: Harding's Marvin Logan competes in a semifinal of the 110-meter hurdles during Thursday's SVC track meet at Chaney High School. Logan later won the final with a time of 14.70 to help the Raiders win the team title.

CAR-TRUCK CRASH: A car went left of center and struck a truck almost head-on at Oak Street and North Lane Avenue in Youngstown. The driver of the car was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center on Thursday afternoon by Rural Metro Ambulance, and the driver of the truck suffered a laceration on his hand.

5.13.2009 Blankets take the seats of the congregation that made them as Diane Wise and Wanda Marland wear two of the 117 blankets made by their fellow members of Western Reserve United Methodist Church for delivery to Berea Children's Home and Sojourner House. The congregation spent about a month making the blankets that will be given to infants, children, teenagers and battered women.

5.13.2009 Ohio State Highway Patrol, Struthers Fire Department, Sturthers Police, and Poland Fire Department respond to an accident where a man drove his pickup truck up onto a trailer pinning a a man who was sitting on a riding lawn mower in Struthers on Wednesday afternoon. The driver of the pickup was driving south bound on Fifth Ave. and is being charged with Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated, the lawn mower operator was taken by Clemente-McKay EMS to St. Elizabeth's Hospital narrowly escaping major injury.
