When a person dies and chooses the complete form of green burial, the body must be wrapped or placed ina biodegradable material. Joseph Lane, president and chief operating officer of Lane Funeral Homes, shows a shroud made of sea grass that could be used in green burials. Green burial "is something different and not for everyone, but it's something we can't ignore," Lane said. At the Lane Funeral Home in Canfield, an entire display is dedicated to green burial products, including wooden and wicker coffins.

The road between Belle Vista and Millet avenues on the city's West Side was closed after a traffic accident at the 2000 block of Mahoning Avenue at 8:35 a.m. Friday. The accident caused downed power line wires to fall onto the road after a utility pole was struck, police said. Traffic was tied up for a couple of hours while Ohio Edison crews worked to replace the pole and wires.

Peggy and John Geiss pose with Jet, her quarter horse. John Geiss, an Air Force Reserve master sergeant with the 910th Airlift Wing's Security Forces Squadron at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, gave his wife the horse to keep her company while she was holding down the home front during his six-month deployment to Iraq.
