Special to The Vindicator FOR THE CHILDREN: Youngstown Lions Club recently hosted its 89th consecutive Christmas party for the visually impaired and special needs children from Youngstown schools. The youngsters were treated to a turkey luncheon and Christmas carols. Santa Claus was on hand to distribute 120 gifts, which were requested by the children and provided by the Lions. The children also received scarves and gloves purchased with funds donated by RE/MAX Valley Real Estate. Special guests included Wendy Webb, superintendent of the Youngstown City Schools; teachers; mentors; and a guest who has attended the party each year for more than 70 years. In addition to hosting the party, the Lions Club raised funds at an annual Turtle Derby and provided more than $20,000 this past year for those in need.
