IT’S OFFICIAL: Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild had a Christmas party Dec. 5 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center. Members elected officers who will serve during 2010. Named to various positions were Jennie Roberts, president; Lynn Price, first vice president; Barbara Rosier-Tryon, second vice president; Diane Wittik, secretary; and Joan Dales, treasurer. A highlight was the presentation of the organization’s first “Member of the Year” award. Above, from left, Wittik and Roberts present the award to Rosier-Tryon in recognition of her significant contributions of time and talent to the guild.

GIFT GIVERS: The Builders Club of St. Patrick School in Hubbard was dedicated this season to bringing holiday cheer to students at the Rich Center for Autism, on the campus of Youngstown State University. Club members, above, hold some of the gifts they purchased with their own money while shopping after school hours. The 20 gifts were wrapped and delivered to the center. Made up of seventh- and eighth-grade students at the school, the club is committed to helping fellow students and community members through service projects.

OFFICIAL CEREMONY: At its Dec. 11 meeting in Canfield, Argus Lodge 545 F&AM installed elected officers for 2010 during its 124th annual installation ceremony. Worthy Brother Russell W. Gillam III served as master of ceremonies. He was aided by the installing officers, worthy brothers Russell W. Gillam Jr., Terry Crosby Jr., Donald L. Huntley, Dale E. Hawkins, Christopher Brocious, George E. Brainard and Paul L. McGraw and brothers Joe Ault and Jared Clark. The new officers, seated from left to right, are Brother Richard Percic, senior warden; Worthy Brother R. Christopher Gillam, master; and McGraw, junior warden. Standing, from left, are Gillam Jr., senior deacon; Gillam III, treasurer; Brother Mark Roca, senior steward; Brother Denny Furman, lodge education officer; Worthy Brother Lyle K. Orr Jr., chaplain; Brother John Factor, trustee; Brother Jeffery Rober, junior steward; Huntley, secretary; Worthy Brother Henry Fletcher, tyler; and Brother David Giudici, junior deacon. The meeting was preceded by refreshments served by the Masters family. Argus Lodge, chartered in Canfield in 1886, is among the 540 lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ohio.
