FIRST NIGHT DISPLAY: Salem Historical Society will participate in Salem First Night activities by creating a display of lamps and lighting fixtures in keeping with the event’s “Light Up Salem” theme. Janice Lesher, museum curator, at left, shares the story of the courting lamp with volunteer Alice Deatherage as they prepare for the exhibit. Anyone willing to lend unique or interesting lighting fixtures for the display at the Salem Historical Society Museum, 208 S. Broadway Ave, are asked to call (330) 337-8514 Monday or Wednesday mornings. Messages can be left on the answering service. Those enrolling as members of the Historical Society by Jan. 1 will receive a gift packet of Salem Christmas cards or the booklet “John Brown’s Raid.”
