Special to The Vindicator STUDIOUS STUDENTS: Columbiana Area Business and Professional Women’s Club presented its 2008-2009 Scholarship Awards to two area high school students, Kathrine Sacco of Salem High School, at left, and Ashley Thompson of Leetonia High School, at far right. Each girl received a $1,500 scholarship to help defray tuition expenses. Sharing the rewarding moment with the students are, from left, Kimberly Bland, BPW treasurer, and Maryann Pollack, scholarship chair. Annually, for more than 40 years, the BPW has issued scholarships to deserving high school students. The funds are raised at an annual style show luncheon and auction. This year the fundraiser will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Salem Golf Club. Local businesses interested in donating items for the auction can contact Lori Libb at (330) 853-5896 or at the Bahama Bay Tanning Salon in Salem.
