YOUNGSTOWN - Kay Eileen Commings, 75, died Sunday, Dec.31 2017, unexpectedly but peacefully at her home.

She was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Georgetta (Davis) Welker and was a lifelong area resident.

Kay was a 1961 graduate of The Rayen School.

She formerly worked at South High School’s cafeteria and was recently working for the Youngstown City School District at Youngstown Central Kitchen.

Kay was a member of St. Christine Catholic Church in Youngstown. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Donald Jay Commings, whom she married Feb. 24, 1964, died Jan. 14, 2002.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Kay Commings of Youngstown; her son, Roland (Alayne) Commings of New Middletown; four grandchildren, Ashley, Sabrina, Patrick, and Kayla Commings; her sister-in-law, Sharon Commings; her brother-in-law, Richard Magni Sr.; her beloved nieces, Michele (Bruce) Ciccone, and Kathleen (Sam) Valentini; and her nephews, Richard (Jane) Magni, Bobby (Tina) Commings, and Donald (Denise) Commings. She also leaves many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, and special friends. She also leaves her grand dog, California.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Virginia Commings; her beloved sister, Erla Magni; and her brother-in-law, Bob Commings.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
