BONITA SPRINGS, FLA. - Gary A. Smith, 62, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at his residence. A former resident of Franklin, Pa. and Hubbard, he had resided in Bonita Springs for the last 10 years.
He was born Sept. 22, 1955, in Youngstown, a son of the late Elmer J. and Betty M. (Bowyer) Smith.
Gary grew up in Hubbard and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1973.
Gary had a passion for cars and was the owner of Auto Majic Auto Body in Hubbard for many years.
On Jan. 7, 2006, he married his soulmate, Renée E. Brumbaugh.
After moving to Bonita Springs, he worked for Autocraft in Naples, Fla., as a body man. He loved to ride his motorcycle, boating, traveling, bowling and playing golf.
He is survived by his loving wife, Renée E. Smith of Bonita Springs; his daughter, Rachel (Jeff) Scacchetti of Hubbard; three stepchildren, Jeremy (Becky) McCool of Pittsburgh, Joshua McCool of Franklin, Pa., and Angellea Page of Franklin; one sister, Connie (Tom) Vagas of Uniontown; nine grandchildren, Christian, Jovani, Isabella, Nunzio, Gianna, Makenzie, Chloe, Riley and Finnegan; his sister-in-law, Gretchen Miller; brother-in-law Thomas Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Feb. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Shikanys Bonita Funeral Home.
