MIAMI - Gloria Crisafi Zipay passed away peacefully May 6, 2014
She was born July 12, 1929, to Rose and Joseph Crisafi in Warren
Married for 53 years, she was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Zipay.
She is survived by her three children, Debra, Mark and Joseph, and was the grandmother to Bruce, Robert, Seth, Danielle and Mark.
She was number two of the four Crisafi girls, Jane (deceased), Gloria, Rosalie and Carole.
Gloria was raised in Niles. She was outgoing and vivacious, and a cheerleader at Niles McKinley High School, graduating in 1947.
She married Dan Zipay in 1951, and was a loving and devoted wife until his death in 2004.
She was employed at Packard Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1986 as a quality supervisor.
Gloria was an avid world traveler and enjoyed many excursions with friends and family. She traveled to Hong Kong, Europe, Australia, Tahiti, Fiji, New Zealand, and extensively throughout the United States.
While residing in Niles, much of her time was dedicated as an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, feeding the homeless, and volunteering her services.
Upon her husbands death, she moved to Miami, residing with her son, Mark, and his family. Here she was a cherished member of the Whispering Pines Womens Club, supporting disabled veterans, and servicing the Whispering Pines Lake community.
She is survived by many loving family members and friends and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 56 North Chestnut Ave. in Niles.
A memorial dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, May 17, at McMenamys Banquet Center, located at 325 Youngstown-Warren Road in Niles.
