NORTH CANTON Edward J. Largent Jr., 78, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born in Waukegan, Ill., Feb. 8, 1936, to the late Edward Sr. and Katherine Largent.
He was a graduate of Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Ill., and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Edward then went on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Music from The Ohio State University, his Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in Music Theory and Composition from The Ohio State University. He retired from Youngstown State University following 34 years as a music professor.
Edwards passion was composing and performing music. He was also an accomplished pianist. He volunteered as the piano player for choir programs at Orchard Hill Elementary School in North Canton.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jackson Largent.
Survivors include his two sons, Edward J. (Jacque) Largent III and Jonathan Richard (Tina) Largent; grandchildren Chelsea Largent, Amanda (Ben) Nida, E.J. (Sarah) Largent IV, Lindsay and Jonathan; his sister, Katie (Peter Dickinson) Largent; and his brother, Jorg Richard Largent.
Friends may pay their respects to the family on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive in Boardman. A brief remembrance service will be held at 12:30 p.m..
