AUSTINTOWN - Marjorie Jean DeHoff, 94, passed away June 25, 2014, at the Briarfield Nursing Center.
Ms. DeHoff was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Austintown, to Herbert and Martha (Seifert) DeHoff.
Marjorie was a 1938 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and went on the graduate from Kent State, with her teaching degree, and then came back to her home to teach. She retired from Austintown schools where, she taught second and third grade at Lloyd Elementary School. She also taught for the Berlin and Mineral Ridge schools, and totaled over 35 years of teaching. She served as past president for the Austintown Retired Teachers Association, and the Mahoning Retired Teachers Association.
She was a member of the Smith Corners United Methodist Church and past District President of the United Methodist Womens Association. She previously served as a board member of the Austintown Historical Society as well as the Youngstown and Rebecca Williams community centers. She was active with the Republican Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Colloquium Club and the Gideons Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sister, Idabelle DeHoff, with whom she made her home; sister-in-law Elsie DeHoff; brother-in-law Jim Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Cleo Simpson, Evalina DeHoff and an infant sister; and two brothers, Herbert DeHoff and Leonard DeHoff.
The family will receive friends at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Sunday evening from 4 to 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Youngstown, OH 44515. Interment will follow in the Greenhaven Memorial Park.
