CONNEAUT – John David Price Sr., 96, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Villa at the Lake surrounded by his loving family.

Born Nov. 14, 1917, in Ashtabula, the son of the late Joseph E. and Letha A. (Sargeant) Price.

John graduated from Ashtabula High School. He graduated with a degree in Engineering from Tri-State College in Angola, Ind. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving our country during World War II.

He married the love of his life, Ann Barnak in Ashtabula on Nov. 21, 1941.

John worked at the Astatic Corporation in Conneaut before moving to Bedford and then residing in Canfield for over 30 years before moving back to Conneaut in 2009. He worked as an engineer for many years for General Electric in Warren. Mr. Price was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and also a member of the Western Reserve United Methodist Church in Canfield. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid horseman, continuing to ride until he was 89 years old.

Mr. Price is survived by his two sons, John David (Terri) Price Jr. of Ashtabula and Dennis J. Price of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, David and Thomas Price; great-grandchildren, Alex and Adam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ann; his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Cuthbert; and his parents.

At his request there will be no calling hours or services. Cremation will take place. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Edgewood Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to the wonderful staff at the Villa at the Lake and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for all their help and support caring for John.
