IRVINE, CALIF. Cecelia Dorothy (Mazar) Burke, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, at the age of 90.
Cecelia was predeceased by her husband, James, who died in 1996, and her youngest son, James, who died in 2009.
She is survived by her children, Patricia (Burke) Meszaros of Irvine and Thomas Burke of Sumas, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Lisa Meszaros, Lee Meszaros, Brittany Burke, James Burke, Elizabeth (and Kyle) Shelton, Nick Burke and Bonnie Burke; and three great-grandchildren, Jovie Burke Becklin, Lila Anne Shelton and Heston Shelton.
She was a long-time resident of Youngstown until 1974, when she and James moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Cecelia moved to Irvine to live with her daughter in 2006.
Her family was her first love. She was the most devoted and selfless mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her second love was travel, especially to where her children and grandchildren lived.
A Celebration of Life will take place in January for family in California and then sometime next year, Cecelia will travel once again to her final resting place in Corpus Christi, to be next to her husband and near her son.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
