GIRARD Ella Hoagland, 85, passed away suddenly Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Ella was born July 19, 1928, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Walter and Minnie Allen.
Ella had worked as a switch board operator for Ohio Bell and later retired from the Mahoning Sparkle Market as a cashier.
She was a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty Township, where she was a Sunday school teacher and loved bible study classes.
Ella was also a Past-President of the Liberty Seniors and volunteered at Liberty Schools. She loved spending quality time with her family, traveling with her daughter, scrapbooking and making cards for everyone, sewing, bowling and her flower gardens.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Frank E. Hoagland Sr., whom she married Aug. 6, 1949; her daughter, Beverly (John) Clinton of Liberty Township; her son, Frank (Edeltraud) Hoagland Jr. of Germany; sister Pearl McConnell of Youngstown; grandchildren John Clinton, James (Katie) Clinton and Frank Hoagland; and her great-granddaughter, Ava.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Slagle, Helen Keck and Jane Whalen; and her brothers, Tom, Chuck and Harly Allen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15, at 11 a.m., at the Church Hill United Methodist Church.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard and also on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Ella will be laid to rest at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
