EDWIN WALTER WALLACE JR

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Saturday, April 5, 2014, 10 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church for Mr. Edwin Walter Wallace Jr., 71, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Valley Care Northside Medical Center.

Mr. Wallace, lovingly known as “Joey,” was born April 7, 1942, in Youngstown, a son of Edwin Walter Sr. and Nora Lee Curry Wallace.

He attended The Rayen School. He had been employed as a tow motor operator with Delphi Packard Electric for 37 years, retiring in 2005. He had also worked with Master’s Tuxedo and was a driver of CCS Trans.

He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, serving as trustee chairperson and former church treasurer. He truly enjoyed the Cleveland teams – the Browns and Cavaliers.

He leaves to forever cherish his beloved memories, his wife, the former Grace Josey, whom he married May 5, 1977; four children, Edwin (Kristin) Wallace III and Rachael Marshall, both of Youngstown, Gabriel (LaToya) Artis of Columbus and Dr. April Artis of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Gabriel Artis III, Taylor Artis and Elyse Wallace; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Artis; a sister, Carole Ann Nevels of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Reginald (Laverne) Wallace of Columbus; and a host of family and friends.

Friends may call on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
