YOUNGSTOWN There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the Good Shepherd at Sta. Rosa de Lima Church in Campbell with the Rev. Shawn Conoboy celebrating the Mass for Gerbasio Gonzalez, 87, who passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
He was born June 19, 1926, in Puerto Rico, the son of Pedro and Rosa Maria (Garcia) Gonzalez.
He retired from Republic Steel in 1977.
His wife, the former Eva Jean Marks, whom he married in 1960, passed away May 15, 2010.
Gerbasio was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd at Sta. Rosa de Lima Church. He was an avid New York Yankee fan.
Gerbasio will always be remembered by his two sons, Michael (Judy) Gonzalez of Struthers and Anthony Gonzalez of Youngstown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Gonzalez of Orlando.
Besides his parents and wife, Gerbasio was preceded in death by two brothers, Nilo and Herminio Gonzalez; six sisters, Frances Shank, Candida Gonzalez, Maria Gonzalez, Margo Allen, Monserrate Gonzalez and Alydia Gonzalez; and his son, Angelo Gonzalez.
Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Michael and Anthony Gonzalez would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pablo for the kind and compassionate care shown to Gerbasio.
