DAVID JOHN BURCSAK

MOUNT VERNON – David John Burcsak, 33, passed away on Monday morning, Sept. 30, 2013, due to complications as a result of intestinal surgery and Duchene Muscular Dystrophy at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1979, in Charleston, S.C., a son of Louis M. and Dolores A. (Harding) Burcsak.

Dave will be remembered most for his loving and generous personality, bravery, relentless spirit, and keen sense of humor. He faced all of his challenges and tasks head-on and completed what he started. He never gave up, even at the end. The Lord just took him away. He used his sense of humor to spread love and joy wherever he went. He even joked with the doctors and nurses after his surgical procedure.

Dave loved his family and most enjoyed spending time with them. He was well loved by everyone that knew him. He enjoyed planning and participating in family get-togethers and vacations.

Dave was a focused student. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1998 with a 3.7 GPA. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University in March of 2006 with a 3.39 GPA. He enjoyed returning to Ohio State annually with his brother to attend a football game and visit the campus.

Dave was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and The Ohio State University Alumni Association.

In addition to his parents, Dave is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Janelle Burcsak, currently residing in Virginia.

Dave was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James A. and Alice R. (Kumrow) Harding and his paternal grandparents, Louis G. and Mary (Yanchek) Burcsak.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St. in Mount Vernon, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

The family asks for your thoughts and prayers as they heal from the loss of their beloved son and brother.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s honor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association for research in Duchene Muscular Dystrophy.
