“Together Again”

CAMPBELL – Viola Elaine Rogers, 83, entered eternal rest Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013.

Mrs. Rogers was born the daughter of Joseph Gibson and Ophelia Pyatt on Dec. 29, 1929, in Campbell.

Viola was a 1948 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.

Viola worked at Northside and Southside Hospitals in the Lab for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of the Gospel Temple Baptist Church, Campbell, where she served on the Sr. Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Kitchen Committee, Missionary Society, president of the Deaconess, and a Mother of the Church. She was a member of the Salvarson Club and attended McGuffey Center Senior Program and Senior Independence Adult Day Center.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Sandra (Keith) Williams of Campbell, with whom she lived; three sons, Floyd Jr. (Cheryl) Rogers of Campbell, Richard (Valerie)Rogers of Elyria, and Michael (Lois)Rogers of Slidell, La.; and two sisters, Anna Evans of Campbell and Rose Rupert of Texas. She leaves seven grandchildren, Floyd III and Brandon Rogers, both of Pompano Beach, Fla., Angela Rogers and Jordan Williams, both of Campbell, Sterling and Brittney Rogers, both of Elyria, and Coleman Rogers of Statesboro, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, R’rianna Slaughter and R’rielle Bebbs of Campbell, Brieona Rogers of Austintown, Sylar, Soren and Brynn Rogers, all of Elyria, Braylen Rogers of Pompano Beach, and Cameron Smith of Georgia; and host of other relatives and friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Rogers Sr., whom she married June 29, 1951, and he passed Dec. 14, 1997; two brothers, Marion and Charles Gibson; and three sisters, Mary Lee Norman, Mary Louise Horton and Josephine “Tina” Gibson.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Gospel Temple Baptist Church, Campbell.

Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Professional services of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
