YOUNGSTOWN A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at St. Stephen of Hungary Church for Frank Ferenc Szegedi, 82, who passed away Saturday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Szegedi was born July 26, 1930, in Jaszsanyszaru, Hungary, and came to this country in 1956 settling in Hermitage, Pa. and working for six years at Shenago Furnace. The family then moved to Warren in 1965 and came to Youngstown in 1970, where he was the owner and operator of his own home improvement company. He was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Church.
While in Hungary, he was an elevator engineer, and was a Freedom Fighter during the Hungarian Revolution before he was able to escape and come to the United States. Mr. Szegedi was a member of the Hungarian Olympic Diving Team and was a member of his countrys International Bicycle Racing Team.
He is survived by his sons, Frank of Youngstown, Gene (Lena) of McDonald and Thomas (Rose) of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Jessica, Heather, Phoenix, Eugene and Megan; a great-granddaughter, Ayanomi.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bertalan and Ferdinan.
The family has requested that contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
