HUBBARD There will be services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for George E. Summers, 82, who passed away Friday afternoon, March 8, 2013, at home.
George was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Youngstown, a son of Alvin and Jane Dunmire Summers.
He was a carpenter for 47 years with Union Local 171 and Local 28 and later was the superintendent of Harding Park in Hubbard from 1993 to 2012.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, the 82nd Airborne, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion of Columbus.
George leaves his wife, the former Lydia P. Fye, whom he married Nov. 10, 1956; and his sons, George E. (Tina) Summers Jr. of Louisville, Ky., and Patrick W. (Patricia) Summers and Michael E. (Debra) Summers, both of Hubbard; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his sisters, Helen Balestra of Austintown, Ida Bonnie Barber of Wheatland, Pa., Bernice Fizet of Fowler, Gail Johnson of Austintown, and June Summers of Florida; and his brother, Paul Summers of Florida.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Summers; his brothers, Charles Summers and Glenn Summers; and two stillborn siblings.
There will be calling hours Monday, March 11, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 12, 2013, one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
George will be laid to rest at the Hubbard Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
