MARGARET A. 'PEGGY' SELBY

COLUMBIANA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Boardman at St. Charles Borromeo Church for Margaret A. “Peggy” Selby, 76, who passed away Sunday night at the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness.

Mrs. Selby was born Sept. 20, 1936, in Struthers, a daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth McMullen.

After graduating from Canfield High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, and master’s degree from Westminster College. After receiving her master’s, Mrs. Selby continued her education at Youngstown State University and Boston College. She began her teaching career at Boardman Local Schools teaching in the fifth grade and the reading center. After taking time off to raise her family, she returned to teaching the fifth grade at C.H. Campbell Elementary School in Canfield.

Peggy was a member of the Mahoning Co. and Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She was a member Soil Sister Garden Club for 48 years and enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

Mrs. Selby is survived by her husband, Richard N. Selby, whom she married Aug. 14, 1965.

Peggy was the loving mother to her son, Ric Selby of Painesville; her daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Al Nagy of Stow; as well as being a doting grandmother to Peter and Grace Nagy.

Mrs. Selby is also survived by her two sisters, Marie McPhee and Betty Badaski, both of Youngstown.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home (at their new location, 8536 Market St.) and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 7th St., Columbiana, OH 44408.
