YOUNGSTOWN Memorial services will be Saturday, June 8, 2013, at noon at the Metro Assembly of God, 2536 South Ave., for Mrs. Willa Mae Nelson, 91, formerly of Clarksburg, W.Va., who departed this life Saturday, May 25, 2013.
Mrs. Nelson was born June 5, 1921, in Toler, Ky., a daughter of John and Gussie Matthews Camel.
She was a graduate of Williamson High School and furthered her education in Cosmetology in Dayton. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Clarksburg, W.Va., its choir and Mission Ministry. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Willa Mae had been employed as a fitting room attendant with Hills Department Store, and was a Mary Kay Representative.
She leaves to mourn her passing, but rejoice in her peace, her daughter, Freda A. (Jim) Phillips of Liberty Township; five grandchildren, Torrence, Gary and Leon Green, Marcine Beam and Ronald Nelson Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Oscar Nelson, whom she married in 1943; a son, Ronald Nelson Sr.; and sister, Kathryn Griffin.
Arrangements were handled by the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
