POLAND – Ernest S. Wilson Jr., 69, died Thursday evening, Jan. 3, 2013, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.

Mr. Wilson was born Feb. 28, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of Ernest S. Sr. and Ann (Wallace) Wilson.

He was a graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy in Toms River, New Jersey and attended Miami of Ohio University Oxford and Youngstown College.

Mr. Wilson first worked for General Fireproofing for 10 years, then Avco Financial Services in Newport Beach, Calif. as a corporate properties manager, and retired in 1991 from Cleveland Steel Container as national account sales manager.

He was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church, where he was an usher and kitchen volunteer for several years, leading the committee responsible for the church kitchen addition. Mr. Wilson was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Sebring Model Railroad Club, serving as past president. He also enjoyed working at Amer’s Hobby Shop on Market Street and spending time with this family.

In addition to his mother of San Diego, he is survived by his wife, the former Karen Lloyd, whom he married July 10, 1965; son, Scott Wilson of Poland; and sister, Lynn Johnson of San Diego.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest S. Wilson Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Robert Johnson.

Memorial services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family kindly requests that memorial gifts take the form of contributions in Mr. Wilson’s name to the Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, OH 44514 or a charity of their choice.
