YOUNGSTOWN Howard William Hagen died peacefully on Feb. 19, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.
Mr. Hagen was born on March 31, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of Charles F. and Anna M. Berlin Hagen.
He was a 1942 graduate of South High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 656th Tank Destroyer Battalion during World War II.
Mr. Hagen worked as an electrician for both Wean-United Inc. and US Steel Ohio Works.
He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and a former member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church and the Saxon Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Ginger Hagen of Bernardsville, N.J.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his loving wife, Jean S. Hagen, of 64 years; his parents; and a daughter, Nancy Begeot.
The family requests that all gifts take the form on contributions to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514 or to the Church Memorial Fund, Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview, Boardman, OH 44512.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, now serving at their new location, 8536 Market St. in Boardman.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the services.
