SEYMOUR, TENN. The Lord welcomed home his newest angel with the passing of Ruth Ann (Bevan) Connor, 64, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth Ann lost her courageous five month battle with colon cancer on Wednesday, July 31, at 10:58 p.m.
Ruth Ann was born on March 5, 1949, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Hettrick) Bevan.
She spent most of her younger years in the Lansingville area, attending several grade, middle and Woodrow Wilson High School.
On Feb. 14, 1974, she married her husband, Robert and they spent 39 years together.
Upon Roberts retirement in July of 2009 from the Postal Service, they relocated to the mountain resort area of Seymour.
In years past, Ruth Ann was employed as Operations Manager for Bechtel Building Maintenance Inc. of Columbiana.
While living in Tennessee, Miss Ruth, as she was affectionately known, became the unofficial ambassador at Smoky Crossing Town Homes. She guided many people from around the country on living in the resort area and the Smoky Mountain Region. She will always be remembered by residents, guests and staff for her homemade buckeye cookies. Ruth Ann had a passion for flea markets, auctions and collecting anything to do with angels.
Ruth Ann leaves behind her husband, Robert of Seymour; her four children, Terrie (David) Stewart of Milton, Ga., Richard (Karen) Ferguson of Marietta, Ga., Nick Ferguson of Boardman and Michelle Connor of Austintown; stepgrandson, Caleb Stinton; and Nanas two angels, grandsons Colby Ferguson and Joshua Stewart.
She also leaves three brothers, Ernest Bevan of Struthers, William (Suzan) Bevan of LeHigh Acres, Fla. and David Bevan of Youngstown; brother-in-law, Alan Chapman of Houston; plus several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Chapman and Susan Kaufman; and a nephew, William Bevan.
Per her request, no public services were held.
Memories of Ruth Ann and condolences may be sent to 224 Smoky Crossing Way, Seymour, TN 37865.
Cremation arrangements are by the Atchley Funeral Home Seymour, 122 Peacock Court, in Seymour, (865) 577-2807.
