YOUNGSTOWN – Sean “Big S” Patrick Ungaro, 39, passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 21, 2012.

Sean was born Feb. 21, 1973, in Youngstown, and was the son of Theresa (Filipowictz) and Patrick Ungaro. Sean was a lifelong resident of Youngstown.

Sean was a 1991 graduate of Ursuline High School. He was previously employed at UPS, General Motors, and prior to his passing, Coronado Steel.

Sean was a loving and caring person and had a personality and charisma that filled a room. He was a loyal and dedicated father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and friend, who could be counted on for a hand, a kind word and always a joke and hardy laugh when it was needed the most.

Sean enjoyed nature and fishing, especially with his son. Sean also enjoyed cooking for the family and took pride in his barbecue sauce that he made on special occasions for family gatherings. Sean loved his family and most importantly, spending time with his son, nieces, and nephews.

Sean will be greatly missed by his son, Sean Jr.; brother Eric (Nannette) Ungaro; and sisters Candice (James) Jones and Renee Ungaro, all of Youngstown. He was a beloved uncle, who will be missed by his 10 nieces and nephews, Gina and Carly Ungaro, Allyson, Gregory, Patrick and James Jones, Theresa and Anthony Garono, and Kristian Whetzel. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncle, and cousins, as well as many friends.

Sean was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Filipowictz and Victor and Mary Ungaro.

The Ungaro family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Schiavone Funeral Home and will received friends on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Sean will be given last rites and a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 a.m.

Funeral services will begin and end at the church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sean’s name to the Rescue Mission, 962 Martin Luther King Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44510.

Visit to share condolences with the family.

“Sean will be forever missed. He was a great person who I had the pleasure of getting to know as I grew up. He has had such a profound impact on my life. I will forever remember his great big smile and laugh. "Hey, girl" is a greeting that will always put a smile on my face, as the memory of "Big Sean" will forever linger in my mind. He was a great father and had a substantial impact on both of my nephews. I love you, Sean. To the Ungaro family I express my deepest sympathies and hope to be there when Sean is laid to rest. Rest in sweet peace. ”

“My heart has been so heavy since hearing of the loss of such a kindhearted soul. You may not be here with us on this earth Sean, but you will be forever in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved you. Your name as a poem: Sadly we say farewell, Entrenched in all our sorrow, Allowing others to comfort us, Never to forget. Until we meet again, New thoughts and shared memories will allow, Growth to come into our hearts, Arriving at a calm, Remembering you always, Only with the knowledge you are finally at peace. With love and sympathy to the Ungaro family.”

“How do I put into words the love I have for my "brother" ? Even though we had different parents, we were blood. I cannot stop thinking of all the years we spent inseparable since St. Edwards through adulthood. So many memories I have forgotten some. I can honestly say I never had s better or closer friend than "Unk". The countless laughs we shared...the "harmless fun" we had especially in grade school with Ronald, Brian, Kelly & Mike. The late nights out & long trips wherever to have a good time. Sean was a great human being & the world is now a lesser place without him in it. I know I will see you again someday brother. I love you...I miss you...I wish I could have saved you. My prayers & love are with the Ungaro family as are my own families. Rest in peace. "DERAAY & GEEGAYAH!!!"”
