COLUMBUS Anita E. Mattern, 92, joined her loved ones in Heaven on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.
She was born July 18, 1920, in Youngstown. Anita was a daughter of Harry W. and Flora (Snelbaugh) Clutter.
She proudly graduated from The Rayen School in 1939.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert E. Mattern; brothers Clair and Edwin Clutter; and sister Jeannette Denny.
Anita is survived by her daughters, Gayle E. Mattern and Nancy J. Mattern; along with special loved ones, Arline Dimitri and Jan Pipic; and many dear family members and treasured friends.
Anita had been a member of the Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church, where she made life-long friends in Mothers Club and was a faithful volunteer. After moving to Boardman, she became a member of the Western Reserve Baptist Church.
In 2007, Anita moved to The Worthington in Gahanna to be close to her daughters, where she met many new friends and enjoyed activities there. Anita was a positive, supportive friend, a wonderful wife and mother, who had a great sense of humor and a deep faith. She will truly be missed by all.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. in Youngstown, where the funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
