BRANDON, FLA. Rita C. Murphy, 87, a former Canfield resident, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1924, in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (McCoy) Connors.
Rita was a graduate of South High School and worked as a cosmetologist until starting a family. She later worked at Connors Steel Company and after retirement, was employed with the Senior Workers Action Program until she fell ill in 2000.
She is survived by her children, Marita Murphy of Brandon and Joseph Murphy of Odessa, Fla. and three grandsons, Kenneth (Jennifer) Wiant of Viera, Fla., Lt. Donald (Candace) Wiant of Honolulu, and Joseph Murphy Jr. of Clearwater, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Murphy, whom she married April 10, 1948, and a son, Philip Murphy.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 300 N Broad St. in Canfield.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
