YOUNGSTOWN - Mildred E. Adams, 71, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 2011, at Briarfield at the Ridge Nursing Home in Mineral Ridge.
Mildred, who was known to all as Elaine, was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Edward and Mildred Whitacre Murphy, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1957 graduate of South High School, and became a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her family and spoiling her husband.
Elaine was an avid bingo player and loved to crochet. She made all of her children king-sized comforters, and made the first blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams leaves her beloved husband, George F. Sonny Adams Jr., whom she married July 2, 1957; two sons, Stephen (Shawna) Adams of Hye, Texas and Donald (Rhonda) Adams of Canfield; two daughters, Susan Bigony (Tom Heiss) of Youngstown and Donna Inskeep of Struthers; 10 grandchildren, John, Shelli, Stephen, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Christopher, Amanda, Michelle, Derek, and Brandie; three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Taylor, and Payton; and a brother, Dennis Murphy of Niles.
Elaine will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A son, George E. Sonny Adams, and three brothers, Edward, Donald, and William Murphy, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today, March 2, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a memorial service will take place at 6 p.m.
