JAMES EARL ROBBINS

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church for Mr. James Earl Robbins, 48, who departed Sunday morning, January 2, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

James was born March 27, 1962, in Youngstown, a son of Solomon Earl and Betty Ann Nalls Robbins.

He was a member of The Church of Hope Spiritual, under the pastorate of Minister Paula S. Lockett. James was a renowned musician, who was very humble, loving, talented and who never boasted of his talents, but ministered his talents instead. Even when he could barely walk or was too tired for anything else, Jimmy wanted to play his piano for the Glory of the Lord.

He had been employed as musician at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church for a number of years, until Pastor Michael Small relocated to Mt. Haven Baptist Church in Cleveland, where James followed and continued to play for that church. As it became harder for James to be on the road from Youngstown to Cleveland, he was hired as the musician at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

He had formerly played at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church and Temple Emmanuel Seven Day Adventist Church, Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, as well as the United Temple Church in Cleveland. James was also pianist/organist on call for L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, as well as a friend.

James leaves to cherish his beloved memory, four brothers, Richard Earl Robbins Sr. and Solomon Earl Robbins Jr., both of Youngstown, Kenneth Ray Robbins of Ashtabula and Rodney Allen (Keisha) Robbins of Dayton; four sisters, Beatrice L. (Floyd Sr.) Bentley and Sandra Dee Block, both of Youngstown, Gloria Jean Robbins of Canton and Phonechia Nina Robbins of Canton; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, aunts and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents and an older sister, Monica Louise Robbins.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.

“Jimmy, I will certainly miss you, not only as a dear friend, but a true Brother in Christ. Throughout the years, you taught me a lot about life, and how to be a friend. Although you are gone, it will be impossible for you to ever be forgotten. I, will, for the rest of my life, keep your memory near and dear to my heart. I will most undoubtedly remember your quick witt, your infectious laugh and your love of music as well as the church, but most of all I will remember your love. There are very few people who have the capability to love as you did. Not only were you remarkable, you were irreplaceable. Again, Jimmy I will miss you, my dear friend. To the Robbins family, I am truely sorry for your loss. I pray that you all find solice in knowing that, father God has welcomed Jimmy into the Kingdom of Heaven. Best Regards.”
