AUSTINTOWN Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman for Sam Continenza, 84, who died Saturday at Northside Medical Center after an extended illness.
Sam was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Youngstown and had been a lifelong area resident. He was the son of Patsy and Helen Slifka Continenza.
Sam had worked as a steelworker for Truscon Steel and LTV Steel for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Anthonys Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, and was a member of the V.F.W. He was also a graduate of Scienceville High School, where he had also served on the reunion committee.
Besides his wife, the former Lucy (Myers) Farmmartino, whom he married in 1953, he leaves his daughter, Lynn Shibble and her husband, James of Austintown; two grandchildren, Haley and Alex; and a sister-in-law, Margie of Boardman. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sandy and a brother, Pat Continenza.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home on South Avenue.
