COLUMBIANA Elmer R. Burbick, 72, of 1229 Columbiana-Lisbon Road, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010.
Mr. Burbick was born May 10, 1938, in Columbiana, a son of the late Leon and Kathleen Oesch Burbick and had lived in this area all of his life.
He had been employed as a construction laborer with various contractors in the area. He attended the Midway Mennonite Church and loved to collect tractors and toy tractors. He was a member of Labor Local No. 125.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth A. (Nancy) Burbick of Lisbon; the love of his life, Esther Shaum; six sisters, Norma Burbick of Columbiana, Margery (Lamar) Shoemaker of Howland, Helen Jean (Arden) Sauerwein of Salem, Mary Kay (Larry) McFall of Salem, Carol Ann (John) Dowdle of Columbiana, and Maureen Nesselrotte of Columbiana; seven brothers, Robert (Kay) Burbick, Harry Burbick, Dale Burbick, Donald (Carol) Burbick, Ronald (Sandy) Burbick and Phillip (Nora) Burbick, all of Columbiana and Willie Burbick of Leetonia; a sister-in-law, Martha Burbick of Salem; four grandchildren, Sean and Kathy Fritz of Sebring, Byron and Chrissy Fritz of Lisbon, Heather and Jerry Nutter of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Taylor Burbick of Lisbon; three great-grandchildren; many, many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Smokey.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Burbick, Howard Burbick and Charles Burbick; two sisters-in-law, Patty (Harry) Burbick and Kathy (Dale) Burbick; and a nephew, Jeffrey Burbick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Midway Mennonite Church with Pastor Herman Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Columbiana Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Columbiana, OH 44408.
