Youngstown Helen Brownie Valenzisi, 88, passed peacefully at her daughters home in Youngstown, early Friday, Oct. 29.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
Brownie was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Campbell, to parents Mary (Haladay) and Joseph Koly.
She graduated from Campbell High School in 1940 and was an active member at her church, St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic, from a young age. Whether she was singing in the choir, making pirohi, or playing cards with the ladies in her club, she always brought a smile to the faces of those around her.
Outside of church, Brownie loved to sing with her sisters, golf, and travel to Las Vegas with her husband.
Sam Valenzisi and Brownie were married on Sept., 12, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1999.
To cherish their memory, they leave their children, Gregory Alan (Kathy) Valenzisi, Alice Joy Fabian, and Sonia (Tim) Philibin.
Brownie also precedes her sisters, Mary Colantone of North Lima, Margret (Joseph) Hudak of Youngstown, Alice Noga of Austintown, Jane (Bob) Mowery of Poland and Sonja (Tony) DiPalo of St. Louis; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Fabian, Mark Fabian, Sam (Meggan) Valenzisi, Annette Valenzisi, Angela Valenzisi, Gregory Alan Valenzisi Jr., Sean Philibin, and Gina Philibin; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Brownie was preceded by her sister, Martha Arsu; brothers, Joseph and John; and close family friend, Fr. Michael Felock.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Clarebridge in Austintown and Southern Care in Youngstown for the excellent care they provided their mother.
The Valenzisi family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., where there will be a 4:30 p.m. prayer service.
