BOARDMAN – There will be a private memorial Mass held at St. Dominic Church for Andrew Leo “Andy” Furlong, 65, who passed away on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at his residence.

Andy will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends.

He was born Jan. 18, 1945, in Youngstown ,the son of Leo S. and Margaret (Corpa) Furlong, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1962, graduate of Ursuline High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and his Master’s Degree in Math Education from Youngstown State University.

Andy taught math and science for 32 years, the majority of which was spent at Poland Middle and High School and retired in 1999.

He was a member of St. Dominic Church.

Andy leaves many friends and family members behind to celebrate his life. He leaves his dear wife, of over 44 years the former Carol Winsen, whom he married Sept. 10, 1966; his beloved son and best friend, Ryan Furlong, whom he had a tremendous impact on; a sister-in-law, Nancy Winsen; a father-in-law, George Winsen; a brother, Leo Furlong; two sisters, Mary Francis Bogan and Alberta Laudenslager; among many other family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia, whom he now joins in Heaven.

Andrew’s request was to have a caring cremation and there will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman.
