

AUSTINTOWN Katherine Alisau, 94, passed away early Thursday afternoon, Aug. 5, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Katherine was born July 7, 1916, in Hollsopple, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry and Julia Gerchok Drabik, and came to Ohio as a young woman.
She was a homemaker and worked for 30 years for Poulakos Bakery. Mrs. Alisau also worked for Isays Dairy on Mahoning Avenue, and in her younger days worked for General Fireproofing in the plant, referring to herself often as a Rosie the Riverter.
Katherine attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, loved gardening and growing and canning her own vegetables, loved animals, and enjoyed immensely the time she spent with her loving family.
Her husband, John V. Alisau, whom she married July 1, 1938, passed away Jan. 24, 1994.
Katherine leaves two sons, Douglas T. Alisau and his wife, Patti Alisau, and Philip J. Alisau; her daughter, Patricia V. Alisau; and a granddaughter, Tara Lynn.
Katherine will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
