
LOWELLVILLE Private family services were held Monday at the Holy Trinity Church for Gertrude Gerty Taybus, 78, who passed away Friday morning at the Hospice House.
Gerty was born Nov. 16, 1931 in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Tressa Walkosak and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1949 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. She worked at Hills Department Store for over 18 years at the service desk. She also worked for the Youngstown City Schools lunch program for 20 years. She was an avid bingo and card player.
Her husband, John M. Taybus, whom she married on April 18, 1953, passed away on April 11, 1991.
Gerty leaves to cherish her memory her four sons, John of Youngstown, Terry of Las Vegas, Robert (Pam) of Poland and David of Campbell; one sister, Julie Joy (Bill) Brozman of Campbell; grandchildren, Jarrod, Katie, Ashley, Whitney and Chad; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Edward Walkosak; and two sisters, Eleanor Kiesh and Maryann Varady.
The Taybus family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home.
