The Canfield library hosted a Spring Painting Party for tweens and teens on April 22.
Amanda Kollar, assistant supervisor, youth librarian, welcomed participants to the event.
“Welcome to our painting party. We will be using watercolor paint today and you can choose your colors and what you would like to paint. You can use the stencils up here, or you can freehand on your own, it’s up to you,” Kollar said.
As the attendees chose their paint colors and brushes, Kollar explained the purpose of the painting party.
“We are here to have fun with painting. We want to show you how easy art can be and maybe inspire you to try some other painting or drawing again at another time,” Kollar said.
The library provided the brushes, watercolor paint and special watercolor paper.
The library hosted a Spring Painting Party the week before for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. According to Kollar, the library hopes to continue the party and offer the event again in the future.
“This is the first time we’ve offered a painting party and we hope to be able to continue it in the future,” Kollar said.
After painting their masterpieces, participants enjoyed a snack provided by the library.
