Heather Medvec is the inspiration behind the Poland Big Dogs Little Dogs Program. Medvec’s goal is to pair up each young Poland softball player, known as a Little Dog, with a high school player, known as a Big Dog, as a role model to look up to in their sport and community.

The ultimate goal is to encourage the little girls to work hard and to aspire to be like their Big Dog, while at the same time bringing positivity to the high school team and letting them know that their community is behind them.

The plan is to have the Big Dogs and Little Dogs write to each other periodically and to have the Big Dogs come to a practice or two. The Little Dogs will continue to cheer on the Big Dogs and Big Dogs will come to one of the Little Dogs’ games.

“I truly appreciate Coach Serich pairing with us to make this a success. I know they have practice and games so it is hard for them to make it to a lot of our practices. This is a great start though, and we hope to keep it going. It is our first year and this has meant the world to our Little Dogs,” Medvec said.
