Vote for the best pizza at Slice of the Valley event

The annual Slice of the Valley pizza challenge will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Metroplex Expo Center, off Belmont Avenue.

Guests can sample the Mahoning Valley’s best pizza microbrews and vote for the best pizza. Admission is $10 and includes three slices of pizza ($5 for children for two slices) and can be purchased in advance at Extra slices can be purchased for $2. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Beer is sold separately.

A panel of eight celebrity judges will include retired Cleveland Browns Kevin Mack and Greg Pruitt. Bo Wagner (as Frank Sinatra) and Elaine Painter (as Barbara Streisand) will perform with their 20-piece band.

The event will also include a silent auction and a raffle. Deneen Penn, 2018 Miss Ohio, will be a special guest, and there will be special appearances by Jocko the Clown and Scrappy the Dog.

Participating pizza makers will include Amen Corner, Avalon, Belleria, Buena Vista, Cocca’s, Gionino’s, Ianazone’s, Leo’s, Marco’s, Pizza Joe’s, Primanti Bros., St. Anthony’s, Salvatore’s, Sunrise Inn and Wedgewood.

The event, now in its fifth year, is sponsored by Warren Rotary. Proceeds benefit Someplace Safe, Habitat for Humanity of Trumbull County and Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.
